How to become a Certified Landscape Designer (CLD)
There are three pathways to becoming a Certified Landscape Designer (CLD). Choose the appropriate option below for more information.

CLD Laddering
In recognition of the time it takes from graduation to completing the CLD requirements, a laddering program has been introduced to allow candidates to earn accredited designations as they progress through the certification process. The Garden Designer (GD) designation is the first step on the pathway to becoming a Certified Landscape Designer (CLD).
The Garden Design Professional (GD Pro) is the second designation in the professional laddering program.

*Post-secondary education in a landscape design-related program or equivalent work-related experience that can substitute for the education requirement.
**CLD (Regular Path): 1-4 years of post-secondary education or equivalent work-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements.
